Your relationship notes are for you. People Work encrypts your workspace on your devices and in the cloud, and we cannot read its contents. We can see limited account information, such as your name, email address, and how often your workspace is updated. Our Privacy Policy explains those details.

Honest Reflection

That privacy matters because honest reflection is what makes People Work useful. If you're worried someone might read your notes, you may leave out precisely the details that would help you understand a relationship.

For example, let's say you have an important relationship with Jack Powers, an influential member of your local tech scene. And you want to interact with him intentionally and regularly.

And let's say you go to a meetup event, see Jack there, and he blows you off. As he's talking to you, he's looking around the room for the "better" conversations he could be having. It leaves you feeling confused and disrespected.

If you're worried about who might read your notes, you might leave out what happened and how it made you feel. "Bad conversation with Jack." A safe thing to say.

When you use People Work, we want you to trust the system enough to say:

"Jack blew me off today at the meetup, kept looking around for better conversations. I felt confused and disrespected by the interaction."

When you do that, you give yourself something useful to come back to when you review your relationships a month later. Was Jack having an off night, or is this a pattern? Is there a different way to connect with him, or is your energy better spent elsewhere?

But if you just put “it was bad” because you’re afraid of other people reading what you wrote, you’ve left out the details that would help you decide. You won’t be strategizing from where you are, truly.
