Make Your First Plan

People Work is built on your goals and some contacts that can help you meet those goals, so before we get further into the app we're going to set those up.

1. Your Context

Your context in People Work is the most important field in the entire app. It tells you and your agent what you're going for.

It's also meant to be updated regularly, so don't try to overthink this. On the Let's start with you screen, the app asks:

Where do you want to be in 3–5 years, and what's standing in your way?

Remember this app is private, so be honest here. What's keeping you up at night?

You'll come back to this regularly, so a couple of sentences or even a few words work great. Select Continue when you're ready.

2. Some Contacts

In this next phase, let's identify at least one person who comes to mind when you think about your goal. Only one is required, and you can add more later. This can be anyone from a colleague at work to an important customer to someone you met at a meetup.

Every person has their own context, and again, don't overthink it. This is to remind you (and an agent) why this relationship is important and what you're after there.

Each person is also assigned to a group in the system. Network is selected by default, and you can change it now or later.

And with each person, you want to decide what your Next connection with that person is. If you don't have one, choose Follow up and give yourself a deadline to schedule something with them. This is just a commitment you're making to yourself to take action. You can always change it later.

Select Save after adding a person. Add at least one person and then select Continue.

3. Review Your Plan

On the Review your plan screen, we show you a default context for each group that has someone in it. The context describes your goal for that group. You can leave it as it is or change it if you have something else in mind.

Finally, set a date to check in and reflect on things. People Work starts with one week from today, but you can change it. In this app, you're the most important relationship you have in the system!

4. And Now, the App

You now have a goal in place, some people who can help you with that goal (and whom you can probably help too!), and a plan for follow-up. Select Let's Go to see the normal app you'll grow to know and love.
