Co-Founder and CTO
I’m Michael, Co-Founder and CTO of People Work in Boulder, Colorado. I’m married to Annie, and we have three kids, two in college and one in high school.
Annie and I started People Work in order to humanize the future of work. There is a lot of talk these days about how AI will transform, and most people think this means that the robots will run everything, leaving the humans with nothing to do. But we think that this transformation gives the humans an even more human role in the future of work. When we observe what behaviors lead to success in this area today, we see that people who are intentional and action-oriented about their relationships are the ones who succeed. We want to help everyone be this way.
This vision is deeply rooted in my lifelong love of technology, great engineering, and delivering with quality. We’re developing this product in Rust using the Crux framework, which provides users a native experience on all platforms. Rust also allows us to be very intentional about how we write the software. This isn’t a vibe-coded mess, this is an intentional, private platform that people can trust.
I also love watching people transform their careers through intentional growth. As a manager, I always loved the coaching aspect before everything else. As I coached others, I noticed the behaviors that led to success, and those that didn’t. The people who succeeded had a system to succeed, and most of these systems shared a common trait: intentional approaches to relationships at work.
I want software development and technology to be a positive driver of change for people, an enabler to help them reach their full potential. I want this opportunity to be available to more people, not just an elite few who live in the right place and went to the best university.
I hope that our company will deliver positive change, and will give people hope and a path forward in this drastically changing landscape. Annie and I wake up every day trying to turn that hope into a reality.
